Town Kostelec nad Černými lesy

Located in a lovely wooded landscape, the town of Kostelec nad Černými lesy comprises the village of Svatbín. Legend has it that this town with a remarkable tradition of pottery owes its origin (in the 10th century) to St Adalbert, among other founders. Visitors to Kostelec urban monument zone should not miss the Church of St Guardian Angels, the Pottery Museum and the brewery. The town’s modern-day architecture is represented by Functionalist mansions dating from the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The community lives a lively cultural life as is attested to by the Ceramic Day (in May), the Bohemia Music Festival and the Kostelec Country Fair. The surroundings of the town are popular with holiday-markers.
